8mm/Super8 film transfer to DVD near Ohio/Indiana?

I live in Troy, Ohio (near Dayton) & am looking for a place that does very high quality 8mm/super 8 film (not sure which I have) transferring of home movies to DVD.

These are mostly very well preserved home movies from early 1960's, but a few reels date back to late 1940's. My parents owned the 10th largest drive-in restaurant in Indiana from 1947-1971 (close to Chicago), & there is some incredible footage of early 1960's life in these films.

I have about 20 reels in metal tins, which I do not want to send through the mail, but which I am willing to drive up to 4 hours 1 way to deliver & pick-up personally to such business. (If any in Chicago or northern Indiana, will drive a little further to get to as I have relatives there). I am the family historian & these are our only home movies of that era, so it imperative this is done properly.

I like the services recommended by your site [•Cinepost in GA, or •CINE LAB in New Bedford, MA], but this is way too far for me to drive to & I am not willing to ship these films. Please recommend other businesses to me that do very high quality transferring of 8mm/8-S to HD DVDs, including possibly other services like color enhancing, etc. Your help would be so greatly appreciated!!!

I don't see a problem with shipping, try by first shipping the least important reel, if everything goes ok than start shipping the remaining little by little, Don't use USPS, I would use FedEx or DHL guaranteed options.

suggestion:

See the attached image to determine which version of 8mm stock you have...
Check the below link for a facility that uses a wet-gate transfer system and can employ color correction (if you need it)...

Nothing wrong with USPS as a shipping agent- although for this material, I wouldn't suggest the economy Media Mail Class...Use Insurance and track your package to/from.
Hope this helps you.
