VHS head switching and border?

On many VHS recordings I have from years ago, there's this thing that is blocking the top left corner I can't describe it, here's an image of one of them

I know I can't really do much about that but what is that, why is it there and why is it blocking the top left corner of the screen?

Also, regarding the head-switching noise at the bottom. Does the image absolutely end right above it or is that blurring what could be extra image?

Didn't you already start a thread here?

It's just overscan noise. You should just mask (not crop!) the overscan with black. Remove noise on sides, top, and the head-switching tape noise at bottom.

I've seen that myself, and mostly on Disney channel as well. Lots of my early 2000s S-VHS recordings have it.

I'm a cartoon collectors, toy/80s/90s commercial collector, sometimes TV show collector. What do you have? :)

Disney Channel, ABC Kids, syndication stuff from Fox and ABC...all from the early to late 00's.

(1) you need a better VCR, as mentioned in your other ongoing thread
(2) we need to talk shows sometime! :)
