Help scanning 35mm negatives with Epson Scan software?
 

I recently purchased an "Epson Perfection V370 Photo" scanner to scan old 35 mm negatives and it has worked very except the software is cropping some of the images. I have tried to use the "normal" mode instead of "thumbnail" mode to scan the entire strip if four images and crop the specific image but I end up with a very dark image that lacks detail if I try to adjust it.

VueScan works much better for negatives/slides.

Just note that the Epson negative scanning is mediocre at best. The slide scanning is exceptional, document and photo print scanning is exceptional.

The V600 is far better. It also has slightly different/better Epson software.

I gave my V300 series to family, and he uses it often to scan documents.

I have the same issue with my V600, it keeps cropping the edges of the image. How do i get it to scan the entire image, when it comes to prints?

I would second what Lordsmurf said. Please get Vuescan. It's been years since I did print scanning with an Epson, and negative/slide scanning with Pacific Image Primefilm XE scanner. But in both cases, Vuescan was a far superior experience, and what I used to scan everything with. You need something that allows you to select the region you want to scan. Since I abandoned other software, I cannot recall if there is even an option to do so with Epson's software. If you must stay with Epson's software, all I can suggest is try to find an advanced scanning mode of some kind that allows user to move the edges of the lines shown (or to draw the box around the area) before you scan.
