Panasonic AG MD830 no playback?
Hi guys!
I bought two Panasonic AG MD830 players, but none of them displays an image. #Lordsmurf wrote that they cannot display the image: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vcr-...asonic-ag.html but in this video you can see that they can (similar MD835 model). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWVF9UtISTw&t=16s How is it? I have two players with 20 working hours, but none of them playback VHS tapes. They are very good audio players, but I would like to watch a movies also ;) |
You need to read that thread again, especially my post there. At no time did I state that the unit could not display images. Medical VCRs were usually contained to SP mode only. Beyond that, for the reasons stated in that thread, these are terrible VCRs.
Don't get one of those for transferring tapes. I wrote this for a reason, use it -- http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide...ing-guide.html |
Did you test both S-Video and composite outputs?
It's kind of hard to know what's wrong otherwise, maybe something inside them is loose, or maybe worse. |
They do work if they are not defective, yours are, So if you can't fix them move on and get another VCR, We don't have the Chrystal ball to know what's wrong with them.

Here is my video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaKI9nbWA1A I have several other fully functional AGs and I would like to have MD830 in my collection also :) I saw that model at internet auctions with a description about the missing video signal, so maybe it's a popular problem? |
Maybe not terribly helpful, but I would guess it's something gone bad on one of the video boards/pcbs. You're getting some video, but something is going wrong in the processing chain somewhere before the on-screen display chip. Bad capacitors (especially surface-mount ones) are a common issue on 90s panasonics, so maybe that's the cause here as well?

Does fast forward/rewind display any differently?

There is no difference on display with fast forward and rewind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP-rMgVTRtk |
