JVC HR-S9800 mode switch spare parts?

2 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
I have some practice of VHS VCR repairs from the last few years, and recently my HR-S9800 started refusing to load the cassettes, so I opened it.
To my surprise, I found that the inner part of the mode switch is broken (it is not a bad contact issue). The metal contacts have become detached from the plastic gear they were originally attached to.
Given that I doubt the part in itself can be easily repaired (?), I am wondering if it is possible at all to find a spare of the mode switch for this JVC HR-S9800.
Advice would be appreciated.

You will have to start looking into service manuals and checking other machines that have the exact mode switch as yours, Look for a basic model that is not affected by eBay inflated prices, Usually a basic VHS model with no bells or whisles that you can get for under $50 and swap the part, There is always a risk in used stuff but you don't have any other choice because spare parts are not available anymore.

I've tried that website before, a lot of parts show in stock but when you order it and they process the order they will send you an e-mail saying sorry we no longer have it. They even show some JVC video heads in stock.

Hi guys,
many thanks for your advice.
I have looked up the service manual and yes, the part number is QSW0554-003 .
It is true that Encompass' site gives the part as "in stock". However as latreche34 points out, actual part availability is a bit suspicious (for reference: here in Japan it seems that the part has been out of stock in all the stores for years - by the way the deck is actually a Victor HR-VXG300, but it looks identical to the JVC HR-S8900 in all aspects except the remote control).
So ok, I understood the most likely solution is trying to look for a similar model and hope the switch is useable.
