Sony Betacam Player Error
 

This Sony Betacam SP Player had a slack tape error (02-603). I was able to eject the tape manually, but I cannot figure out how to clear the error. I believe I reset the player (again manually) to to be ready to receive another tape, but I'm clearly missing something.

Any ideas?

Ah, that looks like the classic 1800(P) - I have a couple of them and they're generally very well behaved.

Can't advise on the reset, but I will have the printed manual for the PAL version, and doubtlessly the transport and interface is the same - you have might have to give me a day or two though. There should be a manual for this online somewhere though.

I have a nagging, back-of-the-mind thing about resetting the controller with a power-on key sequence on the buttons under the front flap but without recourse to the manual I'm flummoxed.

Maybe slack detector uses pulses from take up reel. If no pulses,weak pulses
It throws that error.
While on and no tape try turning take up reel.see if error goes away.
May be stiff as brakes will be on.
If that works then you have a drive issue to the take up reel
