The 1000 was meant to convert Digital Betacam, etc. to DV or vise-versa. I use a 1000 for making copies of Panasonic DVCPro tapes where FireWire output was an afterthought on decks.

This is the precise reason we have them, I don't think anybody has claimed it's a Y/C converter in this conversation, the 100/110/300 are though. We due them with DSR-2000P and other machines that don't have native DV output (or don't have the option installed), although we're shifting more and more toward SDI capture. Depends on customers', requirements, and a host of business issues.

It's a lovely bit of kit, just seems to have an issue with wonky power-buttons :hmm:

Better than them holding up crosses at you .

Sounds like the box adds to warming - 2.5 amps is 30 watts, the box would likely run hot considering how small it is. Does it include a fan?

Yes, there's a comparatively large fan built into the top of the case. They're quite large units (compared to a 300 or similar), 30Watts doesn't seem unreasonable for the layout.

These were only instantaneous readings though, not a continuous draw and I can only speak as to one unit, on one day, under one condition.

@robustreviews Thanks for the hint about sony adapters! I ordered a couple of sony adapters that should work.

Btw, for the sake of learning, I think I will replace the button in the end... Not because I want to repair the unit, but because I feel like I wanna do it

I found these buttons on ebay : 1 x original alps SDL1P-A TV-3 on-off Panel Mount PowerSwitches4A250VAC2pi.t5

I think I will buy a couple of them for the fun of it, but I have a noobish question... Since this link has the button only without the black plastic cap, how does one remove the plastic cap and re-attach it again to the new button?

It will just 'come away', if not it'll just pop off with light force at worst :congrats:
