Sony SLV-N50 broken audio?
I have a Sony SLV-N50
Recently, the audio stopped working. It does not passthrough audio, it does not play audio from any tapes, it doesn't record the input audio - it just records quiet noise. I cannot record, passthrough or listen to audio through rca and coaxial connections. Video works though. Is there a way I can fix it? |
Oh, that's erm... Unfortunate.
Electronically I personally find the Sony machines the most robust out of the 'big three' (mechanically they can be a pest) but the component and build quality on the Sony VHS machines (in my opinion) tends to be notably higher than Panasonic or JVC so what you have here I guess is unusual. There are of course diagnositc steps, are you competent with basic multimeter functions? |
Is it possible the white and red RCA plugs have been accidentally plugged into the VCR input sockets instead of the outputs? It happens.

Yes. A multimeter shouldn't be a problem. What should I test on the VCR? |
