Canopus ADVC-100 analog not working, digital works?
2 Attachment(s)
Hi there,
I have a Canopus advc-100, that gives black screen (with a weird line, see attachement) if you feed it analog input. The result is the same if I use it as passthrough (analogue in, and get the analogue again from the 3 ports on the back) However, if you set it to digital in, and feed it digital signal on any of the DV i/o ports, and capture the analogue output it works perfectly fine. So something is wrong with the input part of this unit. Any idea what it could possibly be? Thanks in advance P.S: Disclaimer before LS yells at me ::laugh: Canopus DV boxes are not really recommended as they perform lossy compression, specially if you are doing NTSC. they are "ok" for PAL. Can we assume you didn't make an easy mistake with the analog? Like VCR not plugged in?
Not yelling at you. 4:2:0 PAL fine, passable. I'm not anti-DV, but people do need to realize this is an ancient 1990s transfer method, made for Pentium III computers. It's pretty lousy. |

Interesting thing btw, I just tried a properly functioning advc-100. It appears that if there is no video (i.e no composite/svideo in inserted), it still won't output the audio, it gives an annoying noise instead. And don't worry, I know you are not yelling , I am just kidding :) |
