JVC HR-S7700 powers off?

Hello. I got this unit and when I turn on it does this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QEqt_tNfD0

It doesn't allow any cassette to be inserted and it turns off after a few seconds. I tried to change the belt but it didn't work.

Thanks!

The belt isn't driving the front loading part properly at least, don't know if it's just the belt being bad or if something is stuck/blocking it. VCR probably goes into emergency shutdown due to not being able to move the mechanism.

Thanks for your answer, would you know how to disassemble the mechanism? I don't know if you have to remove the motherboard with the mechanism.

You can take out the mechanism without removing the motherboards yeah. The mech is secured by a few screws and 2 or 3 (don't remember) plastic thingies, and there are some contacts it plugs into that will also provide a bit of resistance, with all that out it lifts out. Also have to disconnect the ribbon cables and remove the front cover first.

I suggest consult the service manual for the VCR or another one from around the same time if you can't find the specific one. May even be able to find a video of it as they used this mechanism in all their consumer vcrs for a few years.
