Best swab for cleaning VCR heads?

There are so many options when it comes to non-cotton swabs to clean the heads on a VCR, I want to make sure I buy the best quality product that won't damage the heads. A camera sensor cleaner would work well, I just would be curious to hear what people use and what works. I would of course be using it with rubbing alcohol rather than whatever cleaner it comes with (if any). Please advise, thanks!

My preference is a flat sensor swab, sort of looks like a flat anvil, and near pure alcohol.

Foam quality has tanked, many have become cheap open cell, which is bad, snags heads. So only chamois, dSLR sensor swabs. Foam too dangerous now, gamble.
