JVC HR-V505 spring loose?
 

Just found this JVC vcr in the trash bin today (pal, secam, ntsc) kinda low end (euro scart only). It lit up menu is displayed rather well but when i try to load the tape it's somewhat loose no tension the reel is not even taken.

I've found a spring and a piece of plastic laying around the board i don't know where it goes

If someone can point me in the right direction i'd appreciate

Lookup the service manual or just look where that plastic piece goes by identifying the missing chunk location.

Back with my problem with a video this time, i just don't see where they fit really, i'm guessing somewhere in the loading mechanism, i couldn't track a service manuel either

I've found the service manual for the V505EZ, similar design and for the spring the best i could find on the net is it's a "torsion spring"

I've consulted the manual, it wasn't of much help ! On the right side front loading mech i can find a similar spring in shape (it's longer and grey though) (see picture).
The pastic part that came with the spring seem to have one side broken

Don't expect to find it without removing the cassette basket or the entire mechanism, Anyway how about the spring in the attached illustration?

The manual suggests that there should be a spring on the left side of the front loading mech too, so maybe it's that one? EDIT: Or the one in the previous post yeah, didn't see that one.

Looks like it's actually bade by LG/Goldstar judging by the mech/pcb. This version of the LG mech is in the early 2000s LG/Goldstar VCRs, the later/last iteration used in the later LGs, has some slight changes to the layout but functions pretty similarly. There's also an earlier iteration where the bits on the side that the cassette carriage slides on are made by plastic instead of being part of the large stamped metal sheet that the mechanism is built on. If nothing else you might be able to salvage mech bits from a mono LG from the time (which are pretty common at least around here) to repair this hi-fi one.

Well sir i think you've nailed it ! The plastic part fit the missing piece. I guess i have to find a good glue now. That make me think i bought acetone not long ago to melt & reuse plastic junk parts..i'll give it a try.

Making progress : reglued the plastic part, spring is holding tight.
I could play a tape but it seems i
have a cam problem. The blue cam(gear) is not aligned with the other once in rest position (slightly off i'd say). I could remove the white but the blue i tried but afraid to break something.
The blue one connects to the arm assembly pinch (pinch roller) on the other side.

You might be able to just turn it without removing it if you also take out the loading motor assembly. (Unless it does something besides connecting the two loading gears and moving the pinch roller arm and guide post but don't think so.) Otherwise, you have to very carefully bend out the plastic hooks that secure it to the pin when taking it out.

Yes exactly what i did, removing the motor was easy (no screws). Now everything works, though i have partially damaged the mode switch ( a bit of glue again....) but that's another story.

Looks like i can play all my sp tapes (pal, secam-l, ntsc) with it
