JVC HR-S8000U VCR green color tint, causes?
Hello,
This VCR is plugged in directly to my CRT tv, and I noticed that there was a green tinge on this particular tape. Unfortunately I dont have other tapes to test this but I did notice that when the video is paused or is set to rewind and fast-forward the colors correct themselves. Though as soon as you start playing the tape, normally itll go right back to having a green tint. A lot of things are telling me that its likely the tape itself but the phenomena I described above does throw that theory off a bit.. what could be the cause of this? Maybe my headers could be dirty? Green tint playback: https://i.imgur.com/t9hhpnX.jpeg Sans tint on pause: https://i.imgur.com/77l0nL3.jpeg Thanks, |
Tape ruled out, other tapes tested.
Well I tested it with two separate tapes and the issue is there so the tapes themselves are ruled out. Im going to be running a VHS wet cleaning tape tomorrow and see if the heads are the issue, I havent cleaned them. Though I havent heard of a case were dirty heads would cause changes in colors and this is more so an electrical signal problem, thoughts?

No dirty heads would not cause change in color, they cause RF noise. You want to check the video processing boards like the Y-C board. A service manual can direct you to the right ones.
