Different serial numbers for JVC capstan motors?
I have a JVC HR-S7500EH from 1998, this is a NICAM A2 player for Europe.
It has playback issues, it loses colour from time to time watching movies, sometimes I only see green and red colour on screen rest of the colour is like black and white! If i fast rewind the same scene my VCR plays the same scene fine without issues. This problem happens random. Perhaps I have a play in the scart socket, but I don't know? Been using a very heavy cast ingot scart since I bought my player and these scarts could cause play in the socket and the solderings to crack on scart PCB. I will take my player to a shop for them to check it out and re-solder the connections. Been looking to replace the factory fitted capstan motor QAR0032-003 since my player is from 1998 with many hours of use. When JVC release new parts they supersede old parts numbers. Later edition capstan motors had parts number QAR0032-005 and on. On a website I found a capstan motor with parts number QAR0087-005 which seems to fit the French version of JVC HR-S7500 with end suffix MS. JVC HR-S7500MS is also a European super-vhs player with PAL/SECAM playback. From 1999, the newer HR-S7600EU - gold chassie and HR-S7611EU - black chassie had this newer QAR0087-005 capstan motor fitted. Is it possible that the newer series of capstan motor QAR0087-005 also replaced the older capstan motor QAR0032-003 which was fitted to HR-S7500EH and HR-S9500EH players ??? What happens with the VCR if you put the wrong capstan motor in it besides it won't work properly? I have bought a replacement capstan motor QAR0087-005 |

Typically substitute parts will be listed if the original is no longer available. And the -003, etc, suffix often indicates a minor manufacturing change in a otherwise equivalent part. |

Probably means the successor QAR0087 capstan motor which replaced the older QAR0032 capstan motor they both have same specifications but the newer capstan has some improvements over the predecessor ???? Am I correct? |

Heard from my repair guy.
He told me the new capstan motor QAR0087-005 did not fit JVC SuperVHS players using factory fitted QAR0032-003/5, these are not compatible. The new capstan I bought fits one of my later players so it will not be a total waste of cash. I can use it as a spare for future replacement |
