Philips DVP3100V/01 with misaligned gears?
3 Attachment(s)
This unit is one of latest made by Philips with a VHS unit inside, on this one someone forced the VHS tape to enter .. and after setting in place the eject mechanics (now the tape can enter and also eject)
and entering a VHS.. the tape is correctly placed arounf the drum, but when the display show Play , the pinch roller is moving a little bit backwards and the capstain is not rotating (like some sort of STOP position) here some images of the gears (the position is when the tape is ejected) i think that gear placed over the "switch rotor" is on the wrong position probably forced by VHS insertion |
Gears have timing marks as well as the mode switch when they are all in the resting position, check with the service manual for your model.

already checked on the service manual, but there are only electronics schematics, caps/resistors values, electronic calibrations.. but nothing about mechanical calibration and/or position of gears... and there are 2 holes (or 3) for each gear.

The service manual is not complete, it should include a mechanical section, try to buy the right one, most of those free manuals are incomplete. Alternatively you can figure out what mechanism is used and find another VCR that has a complete service manual and uses the same mechanism.
From your first picture I see circular marks on the capstan flywheel which indicates that it is hitting something while spinning, this is not good. |
It's a standard LG mechanism used in a zillion combo decks, see e.g this service manual. There are timing marks on all the gears, I don't remember off the top of my head where they go right now but it's pretty easy to line up once you have the reference.
