VCR doesn't fast FW of fast RW?
 

My JVC HR-2911U SVHS VCR isn't able to fast FF or fast RW. Meaning, I press stop, and then FF or RW. It will FF or RW, but very slowly, as when it does it slowly just before reaching the end or start of the tape.

Here is a video with the lid off showing the symptom. Listen to the sound, too, as you will hear it try to fast FF but the tape doesn't move.

One of the pendulum gears is bad, It needs to be taken apart and investigated, If you don't have the repair skills just get another VCR.

Honestly, don't fix it. That's not a bad option to have when tapes are fragile. But if you find the "problem", I'm actually tempted to purposely break one of my own. I've considered this in the past. Right now, I have alternate non-VCR winding methods, when needed.
