Normal PCB inside NV-HS1000, or modification?

4 Attachment(s)
Hi, recently I've bought myself a NV-HS1000 at a really good price, although damaged and I'm wondering about one strange thing which is soldered in one of the main PCBs.

Could anyone identify what is this PCB for (photos in the attachment)? It's installed on the right side of the main PCB, near the "AUDIOADJ" pin.

Was it installed like this originally? Or someone has "modded" my unit? From what I've seen on the Internet, I didn't see it in other units.

Could you tell me what could be the reason for installing such mod?

It's not clear from your pictures if it just came loose or it was added, You can check the service manual if the board # is mentioned there.

Yeah, if you could take a picture front and back of the board not at the odd angle, probably would be easier to tell. Board aesthetic wise looks like it could be period appropriate and depending on the other markings on the board could give it away as to whether it is supposed to be there, or maybe look for some other unit rebuild videos and see if those other units also have it.

Realize that many (most?) Panasonic S-VHS VCRs have versions, as many were long-lived models with mid-production changes.

Odds of anything custom in there is near zero. (JVCs were the ones that had some custom mods for gov/edu users.)
