JVC HR-S7500E tape reel doesn't stop when FF?
 

Hi, guys.

Got this VCR really cheap. Fixed a few issues.
However, one remained.
After I stop fast forward, the left reel doesn't stop immediately. It keeps spinning freely, like there is absolutely no brakes.
Everything else works just fine.
I checked the brake pads - they all look good.
I would assume there is something mechanical. However, I can't see this process in action - the cassette is not transparent. :)
Any ideas of what to check? What to look at?

Probably is one of the brake pads on that tape hub spool. They look like little felt pads. Most likely is worn or fell off.

It wasn't the tape.
However, your advice didn't go in vain.
I tricked the VCR and I was able to see the brakes in their full stop mode.
The pad in question looked good. However, it couldn't reach the reel.
The reason? There was adjustable stopper. It was in it's best position, yet it was still not good enough.
So, I pull this stopper out.
Now everything works.
