Which version of IE? Let me know.

IE is less than 7% of all web traffic: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
In the past 30 days, our traffic has closely matched this, only slightly higher at 8%. Of that 8%, 83% was using IE11, 8% has IE10, 5% has IE9, and 4% IE8 and under. In other words, it's such a tiny % that we can't worry about it. The other 90%+ of visitors are what we focus on. IE is a terrible browser, and should be replaced with Firefox or Chrome.

This site works best with Mozilla (Firefox, Seamonkey, Pale Moon, etc). Chrome is fine, but has no forum WYSIWYG (and is the fault of Chrome not fully supporting AJAX).

So are there any encoders out there that keep 4:2:2 of the footage captured after encoding to a playable format since neither DV nor MPEG2 keeps it?

MPEG-2 and AVC support 4:2:2, but the real trouble is that hardware players do not.

And besides:

is it worth it for the quality of an analogue video such as VHS/S-VHS/Video8/Hi8/Betamax/S-Betamax ?
Likely not. From what I've seen, the vertical resolution isn't there on the consumer tape formats. I only brought up 4:2:2 because you had.

Can I pull the uncompressed video using Edirol VMC-1 with firewire port?
No. It only sends a pre-compressed stream out.

I use IE11, I do have firefox and chrome, I just got use to IE, I've been using it since the 90's at home, I believe the raison why chrome has the highest # is because of the android devices and there is a lot of them, even apple devices owners prefer to use chrome over safari, firfeox app is not free that's probably why it has a low #, at work we use IE.

There are several variations of MPEG-2 which one you are referring to? I had a MPEG-2 SD capture box and it only does 4:2:0.

High Profile and 4:2:2 Profile. As far as hardware encoders go, these are broadcast-level. Software encoders offer the option.

I see, MPEG-2 part 2, Thanks msgohan for the valuable information, also big thanks to lordsmurf for his work, a pleasure to learn from you.

I think you misunderstand. The profiles that I mentioned are the "variations" of MPEG-2 that support 4:2:2. Part 2 wasn't the answer to your question, because all MPEG-2 video is "Part 2". The other "Parts" cover container and audio formats only.

Wow cannot believe that internet explorer was the problem, here is a screen shot on how the page looked like: (see attached)

Anyway, here is a NTSC VHS tape that I captured with Edirol VMC-1 using adobe premiere capture wizard for demonstration purposes only, I didn't like the outcome although the tape is not in good quality, what do you guys think?, PAL captures were a lot better:

Forgot to mention that the VHS deck is Toshiba V-E61A nothing fancy.

I did a test capture from my new JVC HR-S7600AM S-VHS deck with S-Video cable using VMC-1 via firewire and captured the same segment on the same tape again I just trimmed losselessly using SolveigMM Video Splitter to make a small file, The difference was huge compared to the one above that was done using Toshiba V-E61A VHS only deck, TBC is ON on both VCR and VMC-1.

Hello
Cutting works well with VDub "Direct Stream Copy"

open your movie times in VDub

Picture Frame = 96 see screen

Useless for further processing
Original is probably in single images in 15 or of 18 fps progressive ...
I have no such source material

The biggest difference I see is that the new capture doesn't have the blown-out levels like the other one. I wonder if you could redo the capture from the previous VCR but use the VMC-1 Proc Amp controls to bring the levels into proper range.

I also meant to ask:

Are you using 32kHz audio intentionally?

I used the same setting for both caps, I disconnected the VHS deck it's going to be sold pretty soon.

I don't know why it was captured at 32Khz, I used virtualdub, I need to figure that out.
