JVC HR-S6800U eating tapes, roller guide issues

I recently received a JVC HR S6800U in the mail, and it arrived damaged. I think USPS damaged it in shipping. The machine has two issues:

1. When attempting to playback, rewind, or fast forward a tape, the tape will curl up by the pinch roller or spill all the way out. If I try to eject it, it leaves a spool of tape out of the cassette

Solution: When taking off the back cover of the machine, there is a gear on the capstan motor. I noticed that gear is cracked. It seems to be falling off. When it is pressed on all the way, the machine will playback normally.

According to the BR S378U service manual, the p/n is PQM30017-8: slit washer

2. With the gear put in place from issue 1, the next problem is that the playback picture is inconsistent, which after doing some research, I've found out that the roller guides are loose, which explains why when I insert a tape and playback, the picture can be fine one time, but all messed up another time.

I would like to know if anyone has had issue 2 and how you have fixed the roller guide issue. I would like instructions on how to remove the brass pins and to secure them.

Some of the machines that have this mech are: JVC HR S6600U, JVC HR S6700U, JVC HR S6800U, JVC BR S378U

Feathering of the tape -- the "wrinkling" -- is caused by misaligned (or loose) rollers.
