LiteOn HD-A760GX recorder - Dual layer disks? Firmware updates?

Re HD A760gx i am using DVD-RW and DVD+ Disks without problem if I try to use a dual layer disk, I just get the message " open tray to remove disk ".....I am using AONE GOLD PLUS disks.....

I have read that others have issues with dual layer disks...

I researched and found that there are five firmware update files on liteon website. Bit one of them ( zip file ) reports as corrupted, the other four are ok. Not sure if I need to sequentially install each firmware update, or just install the latest ( assume this to be the top one, as they are not dated )

The other issue is, how do I install the firmware update(s) ? The files are not ISO or similar, so can't see how to burn them to a disk.

I am transferring old VHS tapes to DVD, tried the hdmi upscaler and elgato routes, but the quality suffered enormously.....got much better results with the liteon....

Thanks in advance....

DVD recorders have never worked well with dual-layer discs. Not any model, ever.
Firmware updates varied so much, that you really need the instructions for how to updates that exact model.

Yes, but the liteon website gives no indication of how to perform the firmware updates....

Thanks

I know. You'll have to find archived text somewhere. Sometimes you can use the Archive.org wayback machine, if you can at least track down the URL or where it once was.

I don't have the answer, but I can at least give you some tips. :)

Lots of firmware required the file be burned a CD to update -- not a DVD.

It's literally been 10+ years since I did LiteOn hacking, so I just don't remember that much anymore. I wish I did.
