Panasonic VHS-C camcorder glitching video?

Hello!

My VHS-C camcorder is experiencing issues. I bought it "well working, tested", however, it seems hardly so. I tried recording some video of a bird in SLP mode. The video is unwatchable.

Can anybody tell me what the issue with this camcorder is? This is the only problem it's got so far.

Yes, the camera is suspect.

But VHS-C is probably the worst consumer format ever. It could just as easily be a stubborn tape not liking a more-limited tracking range afforded tapes by the camera.

So ... why are you using a camera?

If transferring tapes, use a Panasonic AG-1980P S-VHS VCR. TGrant usually has some for sale, if needed.

I was trying to digitize tapes of my second birthday. However, I never put valuable tapes in an untested machine. I decided to use my BASF tapes to test its functions. I wanted to use the PV-43 because it has metal amorphous heads in hopes that the final product would look better vs an average vcr+playpak.

I neglected to mention that the camera's battery is nearly dead. It only holds a charge for a minute, and may not be supplying enough voltage to successfully record.
