Matching list for mechanical spare parts ?

Hi.

It strikes me when watching youtube videos of people repairing/fixing Panasonic VCR:s, that a lot of Panasonic VCR versions that is not the top of the line, has the same K-deck mechanics as the most advanced versions.

Would it then be possible to by a working cheap VCR with the same K-deck, and use this unit for spare mechanical parts. There is a list of good VCR:s in this forum, so maybe it could be upgraded with hyperlinks of which series that have matching k-deck/mechanics. I belive that JVC is in the same issue when watching how their mechanics are very similar when comparing the units inside.

Any thoughts or ideas in this matter ..?

All K deck Panasonic machines use the same mechanics unlike the G mechanism ones. So feel free to buy a cheap mono K deck and fit to your top of the line machine - making sure you swap over the head and head amp.

How do I see if a random Panasonic has the K-deck ?
Is there a letter combination , like Panasonic NV-xx-xxx, or is there another code combination that can help me if I´m checking ads for used VCR:s.

No list that I know of but if you look at the date code and it is between 1995 and 1998 you can 99.9% guarantee that it will probably be a K mechanism. That's what I do when shopping for spares machines.
