RCA VCR ejection deck is sticky

Good morning!
I was hoping someone would be able to assist me with a little problem that I have with a vcr i just picked up.

I have a RCA selectavision vcr , the power turns on fine, I tired to put a tape in and it seemed a little hard to push in, thinking it might have just been as little dirty but when I looked in it was on an angle with the left side down. I tried to eject the tape but nothing happened. I opened it up and got the tape out. Is there a way to get the deck to start moving freely again. Sorry if my explanation isn't the greatest. This is my first time trying to work on a vcr and any input would be great.

Can't tell much from the photos. Had an RCA (with turret tuners, shows how old it was) that split a nylon gear. Replacing it fixed the transport. But that may NOT be you issue. Best bet is to find the service manual. Should be available online if you search the model number.

If you're trying to fix this for nostalgia, or as an antique, it can maybe eventually be done.

If you picked this unit up with the intention of using it to play tapes, to convert to digital, you're wasting your time. This sort of unit will give vastly subpar image and playback quality. It might even eat tapes, as VCRs of that era had pathetic transports.

I doubt a service manual will be available for something this old.

lordsmurf makes the strongest point. It would NOT be a good VCR for analog capture, rather more of a museum piece since the Selectavision branding ended in about 1986 or so. Any rubber and many plastic components would likely have failed or weakened by now

Without the model number (there were many Selectavision models) difficult to give a more specific pointed.

You may be able to find a SAMS Photofact service manual for it at:

among other sites.
