Sony SL-HF2000 Betamax capstan runs backwards?
 

My brother in law gave me this Beta recorder and because it is a valuable one I am trying to repair it. The display did not work but I found an open resistor in the power supply that corrected that. The other problem is bizzare. The tape transport loads the tape, it will ff and rewind but when in play the capstan which is a direct drive motor turns in the wrong direction, instead of feeding the tape to the take up reel it feeds the other way and eventually has to be shut down. Any ideas out there?
