Stuttering during VirtualDub capture with Easycap?

Hi all.
Trying to capture some old vhs tapes with virtualdub. The preview showed stuttering but I had read that the preview will do stuff like that due to processing limitations but it won't be translated to the output file so I disregarded it but it did get into the output file and made it unusable.

Any ideas as to what can be done to prevent this?

This is a known problem with EZcap/Easycap (infamously known as Easycrap) cards. You need a better capture card. All modern cards are junky Chinese things massive problems. You need known-good models of hardware from about 2005-2010 for best results.

Furthermore, the incoming VHS signal must be corrected with a TBC, both line and frame.

What are you using for VCR?

Quality video, and a quality capture experience, is all about the hardware in use.

That's a low-end VCR, paired to one of the worst (if not THE worst) capture card made.

And remember: http://www.digitalFAQ.com/forum/marketplace/

You want a good VCR, with some sort of TBC/TBC(ish) between the VCR and capture cards, followed by a quality capture card. Trying to do anything else will look miserable at best (ie, what you're now seeing), entirely fail at worst.

Good gear needs a budget, but this isn't a forever purchase, just a project purchase. Buy it, use it, resell it. ;)

You're on the right site to learn, get a crash course of VHS transfer requirements. :)
