JVC HM-DSR100RU works with DISH?
Anyone have any info on this unit? It is a D-VHS unit that was built for Dish TV. There is one for sale dirt cheap by me. Big question would be if it would work without the Dish service.

JVC D-VHS decks worked as well as most JVC S-VHS (with TBC) models .... but only for SP mode tapes. These were almost always really lousy at LP or EP. Same for the others D-VHS brands, like Mitsubishi.
So ... how cheap? Goodwill cheap? Something like this would need to fall within my $50 gambling budget, in order for me to buy it. It probably works without DISH, but it may be a PITA to use. All of this assumes the unit is even in fully working order. Given the consumer nature, I highly doubt it. Most home theatre type units were screwed up by kids and unknowledgeable users. |
$10. That’s why it peaked my interest.

Buy it. I would. :)
Then report back your findings. ;) |
It might requires an active card to even let you do anything, What I do know is it is just an SD D-VHS not HD or D-Theater, It will play VHS, S-VHS and SD D-VHS (home recordings). It doesn't have HDMI out, The best connection is S-Video output and it records from DN tuner only. Let us know how it goes.
