Panasonic AG-7510 needs standalone TBC?
I'm starting my journey of digitisation.
I've got a Panasonic AG-7510. Until today I didn't know about TBC. Will I need a stand alone TBC? If so, what the best one not to break the bank? I'm looking for a relatively straightforward setup to capture. Can you recommend a USB device that I can use with Windows 10? Thanks in advance. |
You always need frame TBC, period. Regardless of line/field (internal VCR) TBC in use.
- external/framesync TBC cleans the signal - internal/line TBC cleans the image For quality transfers, you need both. That exact model VCR is ancient, not suggested. That unit doesn't have a TBC, according to what I've read. That was an industrial VCR, with many limitations. Yes, several good USB capture cards work well with Win10, but note that none are sold new. There are excellent USB cards that worked well in Win7, and the drivers still install wit Win8/10. Certain ATI clones (not all), certain Pinnacles (not all). PAL vs. NTSC (or both) also matters, to make sure you're pairing the best card with the workflow. Sometimes the VCR and TBC in use need to be known as well, to prevent known workflow devices conflicts. |
