Samsung DVD-V6700 thoughts?
This Samsung DVD-V6700 has popped up locally (PAL land). Has S-Video out. Thoughts?

My thought = NO!
But if you want to scrape the bottom of the budget barrel, for research, comparison, or play, I guess go for it. Some Samsungs have a nice no-halo sharpness profile, but there are other issues. The main issue is a superimpose/overlay on-screen display (OSD) that just will not turn off. Are you sure the s-video works for VHS output? And does the internal connection main separation (s-video), and not hit a composite chain off the VHS deck side? |
Thanks LS, I'll reconsider!

Even the component video output is for the DVD player only, if the s-video or composite don't work, the component output is set to progressive, you can find the manual for this combo player on manualslib.
an advantage is, this combo has no tuner :) but can record from an external source, if needed. Has no SCART connections, which sometimes add different video outputs like maybe no OSD.... looks indeed like a definete no to me also... |
