MiniDV reimport or convert .dv/.mov files?

Imported many files in 2006-2010 using QUICKTIME and iMOVIE

Would it be better to reimport the miniDV tapes using a MODERN MEDIA CONVERTER(go direct to H.264) or to convert the old .dv&.mov files to H.264 imported in 2006-2010?

Thank you
Todd

I would only reimport if there was a problem with the original ones at time of capture or the files have developed errors since then.

You'll most likely gain nothing whatsoever, and in fact lose quality if compressing to H.264 as analog capture.

DV is Firewire transfer of data files on tape, there's no other way to do it -- aside from analog capture lossless in SD, which Mac could never do anyway.

The most "modern" thing about DV is lack of Firewire, and trying to find adapters to convert Thunderbold to Firewire, and still work properly.
