Sony DCR-TRV120E, record to tape from s-video?
Hi,
I'm trying to create a test tape for experimenting with captures. I thought I'd record from a known good source, such as a DVD without copy protection (I've found one) via S-video. When I hook up my S-video cable I get the picture on screen on the camera in VCR mode. But I cannot figure out how to start recording. I did the same with a newer DV-camera (DCR-105E) from Sony and there were instructions on how to get into the correct menu from VCR mode, but I cannot find anything similar on the Digital8 camera. Is this possible, and can someone give me a quick guide? |
Is there anything about it in the manual? I believe recording from the external inputs were disabled in firmware for tax reasons or something on a number of the European 8mm and miniDV camcorders as documented on this website. It's possible you can do it on some that lack a record button using a remote that has it as well but not sure.

Thanks,
No nothing I can find in the online manuals. But that site was very interesting. I have an RMT-811 remote that has the requisite buttons, so maybe I can get the mod described there. |
