Avisource decompressor issues with same codec
2 Attachment(s)
Hello,
I'm becoming crazy and find no solution. I've captured some vhs tape in Lagarith lossless avi files. Now, I'm improving the result with a "vhs avisynth script" that suits me. For some files, no problem, all is running well. For other files, problem, AVISource is not able to read the file because : "Avisynth open failure; Avisource: couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc LAGS)." All my files are Lagarith codec. Lagarith does appear in all my versions of vdub2 (32 and 64). Here is the info of a working file: Attachment 14000 Here is the info of a non working file: Attachment 14001 Any help would be very welcome ! Thanks in advance Chrisbati |
My suggestion is to ditch Lagarith in favour of a faster modern alternative: Ut Video or MagicYUV. Don't know what might cause the issue you're having.
Compression filesize comparison I did last year |
Thanks for the advice.
Do u have advice on best vhs configuration with MagicYUV ? |

MagicYUV settings for VHS. I'm not a big fan of the way MagicYUV and Ut Video flood your codec selection dialog with their individual pixel format variants, but I understand why they did it. Make sure you choose the right one, or your compression won't be lossless.
Attachment 14004 Hopefully you don't experience the same AviSource issue with codecs other than LAGS. |
Great ! I'll give a try.
thanks! |
