Sage TV

Well I have just about got all the card things working for this . Once again thanks to Padre for this card and the other device as well. Now I am trying to set this program up and want to make sure I am getting the best capture possible if I want to make some sets or captures. I am using SageTv V5 I have found the only settings I can see in the Multimedia Section and figured I would ask the Guru's about what is the best. I have this plugged in from Direct TV using a S-Video Cable and Audio Cable RCA.

* Aspect Ratio
-Fill - Source - 4x3 -16x9

* Source Aspect Ratio
-Horizontal Stretch = 100%
-Vertical Stretch = 100%
-Horizontal Offset = 0%
- Vertical Offset = 0%

* Recording Quality
- Best 3.0 gb /a hr
- Standard 3.2 gb /a hr
- Long Play 2.4 gb /a hr

If anyone has used this program almost like a TiVo Program and I hate to bother padre on this one again. I currently have the best settings on mine.just not sure on the source and aspect areas.

I believe the Aspect Ratio settings have to do with playback only (watching shows from Sage), not recording them.

I so need to look more into this cause it just seems that there is a little I need to learn about this program in order to get the best out of it. Now it seems every now and then I get the error capture device etc... Now Padre is there anyway I get you to take a screen cap of your settings that work for you? Since your making sets form this program? or someone else is welcome to chime in

I can't send any screen shots (no monitor/keyboard/mouse attached, and I use VNC to get to it). But I can send you a copy of my Sage.properties file. It's like an .ini file that contains all the various settings for the program. You can compare the settings to what yours say.

On an active Sage TV system, you can view the Sage.properties file (in the SageTV directory), but you can't update it unless Sage is shutdown (it keeps the file open while running). Shut the program down, make a copy of the original properties file, add your changes, then restart Sage.
