Captured Video8 has diagonal lines?
 

Hello,

I just figured that all my captures have the same issue.
On uniform zone/colour, we can see diagonal lines (see attachment).
That's not the interlaced lines we can see horizontally (so i suppose it's not).

I don't have that issue with vhs material only with video8.

Where does that come from ? the player (Sony TRV66e) ?
I tried it on two different computers and same issue.
I tried it on two capture cards (Avermedia USB and ATI 600 USB) and same issue.

I tried without the trv66 tbc, but the picture is really worse.

It seems that the diagonal lines come with the signal as we can see them directly on the blue screen.

I don't see any diagonal lines? Can you post a still picture and point to it by an arrow. All what I saw is a drop out horizontal line across the screen which the DOC did a good job reducing its effect, But there is no diagonal lines.

yes at first, I didn't noticed them, then, working on the video, I spotted them and then I only see them...

In the blue screen at the begining, they go from left to right.
Also, in the yellow part of the days inn panel, you can see them as spoted in the attachment.

And when you can spot them you see them moving during all the video.

I'm having the same issue, did you ever find out what was the cause?

If anyone else ends up here it turned out to be a bad svideo cable. probably lack of shielding

This called dot crawl, are you using composite cable?

Not dot crawl, it is a unique diagonal noise pattern due to poor cable isolation or shielding, Dot crawl is horizontal.

Like shielding how specifically? Just poor cables connecting devices in the chain, or something internal to the VCR?

It could be a combination of different factors, The OP hasn't posted back to know what really caused that, But the above poster confirmed his cable was bad.
