Hitachi VM-E455LA (8mm camcorder) transferring to Windows 10 PC?

I'm planning to bring a Hitachi VM-E455LA camcorder with a stack of 8mm tapes abroad with me. I'd like to post the videos I take while I'm abroad so I won't be able to bring a VCR or any large tech. I think the ideal solution would be a composite to usb converter, as the camera only has composite outputs (no S-video). The laptop I'm bringing has Windows 10, and it doesn't have a CD drive, so any software would have to be downloadable. Any suggestions?

If necessary, I could bring an old laptop running Windows 7 that has a CD drive if that would be notably easier/simpler. I've also got a raspberry pi if linux is the way to go. Thanks for any help!

I use an IO Data GV-USB2 capture stick. I record video with Virtual Dub 1.9.11, using the Lagarith codec.

Install guide for the GV-USB2 is here:

This setup works well with Windows 10 21H1. Captured files are about 40gb per hour.

The problem here is you must have some form of TBC, and camera>computer alone will not work.

And is that an ancient Video8 camcorder, not even Hi8? If so, that will be a problem as well.
