Using AJA FS1 for s-video capture?

Is anyone using this full frame TBC/Synchronizer for capture? It has S-Video in and out and these appear to be really good units and are still in production. I just haven't been able to confirm that there are no issues when capturing from the typical machines that we use for capture. Thanks for any info.

I haven't tried it so I cannot confirm if it works or not, For the size of it and $3k price it is not suitable for a lot of folks, But if you got one do let us know how it works.

I just picked up an FS1 from Ebay and so far my tests have been very positive. However, you need a very stable signal from a high quality deck. If you feed a signal from a consumer VCR you're going to have issues. The FS1 will lose sync and you'll lose video. I'm playing back VHS tapes from a Sony SVO-9500MD (medical grade S-VHS deck) and I'm pretty sure this unit does not have a built in TBC. However, the signal is rock solid. I can shuttle back and forth through footage and the FS1 doesn't skip a beat. I also fed a signal (composite and SVIDEO) from a Sony EVO-9720 and once again the FS1 was flawless. The 8mm tape even had a couple of spots of really nasty dropout. The FS1 held it together. The plan is to send an SDI signal from the FS1 into a Blackmagic decklink card for uncompressed capture. If you have decent playback decks, the FS1 is THE cats meow.
