TBC-1000 only has 1 channel audio output?
Hi,
I have done a number of A/B tests with multiple cable combos and this new (to me) TBC-1000 is only giving me 1 channel of audio. Do you know if anyone repairs these, and if so, how much would a repair like this cost? Thanks Shayne |
Do not use a TBC-1000 to process audio. It is unnecessary, and potentially degrades your audio quality. Bypass it, go directly from VCR to capture card. The delay of the TBC video (video:audio ratio) is 1 frame, 1/60th sec, about 17ms, negligible.
All TBC-1000s and VP299s (distribution amp, distro amp) are having caps issues now. Your VP299 board in the 1000 is surely bad. It happens, often. Repairs will probably be a few hundred. Lots of caps to fix, lots of time involved. Forum member Diopter_Doctor recently said he is fixing these: - http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/memb...er_doctor.html - http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide...html#post85015 (post #19) |
thanks for the advice- I appreciate it!

Welcome Shayne!
+1 on Diopter_Doctor. He repaired one for NIN Ryan. He also made me a couple cables to bypass the distro amp entirely on one of my backup 1000s. So there's lots of options. |
Thanks for posts, fellas.
If anyone needs any refurb on these units, just PM me. There are a few tricky spots when working on these units. I'm currently putting together a video of doing an entire refurb. |
