ATI X600Pro VIVO (not AIW) drivers?
4 Attachment(s)
Hello!
I found an old pre-assembled PC of my brother bought between 2004 and 2005, I don't remember exactly when. The preassembled PC is branded "Medion" and I discovered that it mounts this ATI X600Pro VIVO card PCI. (It's not an All in Wonder, it doesn't have a TV RF input, but it still has a Rage Theater chip) Strangely, the MMC software was not installed and I tried to install it by downloading the ISO "Catalyst100DVD_180V01098100_x600" from this forum, Now MMC is installed with version 9.04, but I can't see any capture button, only Play option. Video capture works great with Virtualdub (video input is via the yellow connector on the back of the card connected to a panel mounted in a drive-bay) and works either with s-video or with CVBS, while for audio I have to use the audio input of a separate sound card or integrated into the motherboard because it doesn't seem to me that there are audio inputs on the card. The question is this: why don't I have the possibility to capture via MMC? I'd like to test capturing in MPEG and other uncompressed tests with the Soap filter. Does anyone know what is the right version of software/driver package/Catalyst/etc I need to install? Thank you for your patience to read. |
X600 is still AIW, the "VIVO" is just semantics.
Are you wanting to use this for MPEG capture? That's the only reason to use MMC now. And VideoSoap not worth it anymore, not in years, post-process NR way better for years. |
Thank you.
Actually, my intention is to capture in uncompressed format to keep archival copies of the footage or to make, only when really necessary, improvements to color, noise reduction, white balance correction, etc, in postproduction and then eventually export to h264 to distribute or to publish, in small clips, with historical content of my small town on Youtube. Direct mpeg capture for me may be useful only if some friend asks me sometimes for a transfer to be done quickly on dvd and for free... So OK, I understand that MMC is no longer needed. Curious question (because I remember reading it somewhere, but I don't believe it is possible): with these cards can I do direct capture in h264? And the previous question remains: why is there no capture button in MCC? |
Cannot, and do not want to anyway. H.264 is not a SD capture format, it's delivery.
