Video rolling, split screening?

capture device : GV-USB2
video deck device : samsung sv-dvd520 capture software : OBS, Amarectv capture interface: Composite When capturing a specific section of video, the following error occurs. There is a problem only when playing, but there is no problem when pausing, rewinding, and fast forwarding. what happened? This is a captured copy that has been played, paused, and fast-forwarded (from OBS) |
If it does it on all tapes your VCR is mechanically miss-aligned, You need to find someone with repair skills to re-aligned it for you.
|
Not all tapes are like that.
Even within a single tape, only certain areas are experiencing problems. Can TBC equipment help? |
I would like to think so, that's why it's called frame TBC.
|
Any chance different VCR's were involved with recording the problem tapes?
Are the problem tapes commercial prerecorded or a home recorded tapes. |
it's home recorded tapes. recorded tv broadcasting.
|
There are some capture devices know to do this, I've seen similar samples before especially the EZcaps, Changing the capture device solved the problem, Connect to a TV to make sure the problem is coming from the tape and not the capture device.
|
in tv, It displays pretty normally.
|
So it's your capture device not liking the video signal you either need frame TBC or a DVD recorder in passthrough such as ES10/15.
|
@qarty, don't get hung up on the Panasonic ES-10 and 15. While they are the best-known models for good passthrough stabilisation (and command higher prices), there are many other early Panasonic DVD/HDD recorders with similar capability that are much cheaper.
This is a list of PAL machines: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/...e4#post2669328 |
That is just a list of all the recorders that exist, not units for passthrough as minimalist line-only TBC(ish). Extremely misleading.
Anything that predates ES10/15, and most after, do not work as TBC(ish). Let's not start new myths. |
OK, from personal experience, I can tell you that the PAL versions of the ES-35, the EZ-48 and the EH-57 are just as good, TBC-wise, as my ES-15. This is not a myth. I have no reason to disbelieve the experts that contributed to that list.
|
Again, that is just an exhaustive list of all models. It's also not accurate. As an example, the "2005 Panasonic DMR-ES20 ||TBC,10bit", aka the ES20, has no passthrough, no line TBC. It's a craptastic unit that needs to be avoided.
|
I can't afford a new video deck, so I'll find another way. Thanks
|
I'm afraid that another way will be too expensive, If you can't get a DVD recorder or a frame TBC I don't know of any other cheap alternative that doesn't butcher the quality of the video.

- OBS is junkware for analog capturing (but good for digital streaming recording; the reason it exists) - AmaRecTV does some unknown things; sometimes buggy, not reliable - composite is blah from almost all devices (composite itself is fine, but 99%+ of all implementation sucks) Quote:

- When you want to cut the lawn, you don't buy scissors. - When you want to need to change your car's oil, you don't dump in a random oil (olive oil, push lawnmower oil, etc) Everything has needs, requirements. And everything has tools for the task. When it comes to video, you need TBCs, quality capture cards, etc. Or the alternative is to just make crap conversions, and just accept the horrid quality -- which is a terrible lazy cheap option. People sometimes get triggered when I dose out this nugget of realism, but if you can't swing $100 max for this essential tool, you have bigger problem than trying to convert video. Video is a cheap hobby or DIY task, relative to almost anything else. Just set the project aside, and revisit it when the budget allows for proper tools to do a proper job. Perhaps give up a vice for a month (or week, or even day). |
Videos in Korea are in NTSC format.
My concern is that since I can't test TBC, buying this might the same as buying old junk. TBC cost at least 100$ and more. in addition, Some equipment already turned out to be bought crap (ex easycap, av to hdmi converter). The GV-USB2 showed better picture quality, but was not good at catching analog signal errors. how about PROSPEC DVE792W? I understand that it is an external TBC equipment with video editing function. |
TBCs cost more than $100, most are $1000+ range.
Buying crap is mostly about vendors. For example, neither myself nor VCRshop would ever sell crap. PROSPEC DVE792W is a random device, not suggested for your exact task. Not at all a TBC, and appears to be similar to ClearClick junk in a bulky ugly box. |
