Canon Elura 2 camcorder used for passthrough?
Can I connect my Canon Elura camcorder 2 to my VCR and use it as a passthrough?

Here's the manual:
https://www.manualslib.com/download/...ura-Elura.html Follow the procedure on page 78 and see if you get anything out of the Firewire port (assuming you are intending to capture from the Firewire). |
It might cram the video to digital, but lowers the quality to compressed DV (blocks, lost color), and likely has no TBC for passthrough. So the signal must be TBC processed in a quality S-VHS VCR, and an actual frame TBC.
The DV camera is just a dumb digitizer box, nothing special, not quality. |
No, the Elura 2 will not do analog to DV/Firewire passthrough. The 2 was/is my original DV camcorder. The early camcorders like it did not support this feature.

Thank you, I appreciate all of the replies. I used the Elura 2 to transfer miniDVs to my pc. Too bad I can’t use it as a passthrough for my VCR. I have a JVC HR 3600 and very little money to purchase additional equipment. I was given a Dazzle, but the quality of the output is poor. Can you please suggest a better piece of equipment I can purchase (for $100 or less) that I can pair with my VCR?
