Hi all.
Got my first TBC/DNR JVC machine and want to transfer back all the 100 tapes I have.
Last time I did it was 10 years ago with Windows XP machine and a standard 2 head VCR, with some EZcap app or Ulead for capturing.
I saved the files as MPEG2 DVD with around 7000bitrate at that time.

Now I capture Lossless with Vdub (avi) and the video is looking good but slower than my MPEG2 files.
I have attached a screenshot of the FPS counter on VLC.

The new capture (left) is counting 25FPS while the old MPEG2 (right) is counting 50FPS.
Both of the Frame rates are 25 as you can see in the Codec information.

What could be the reason the lossless file looks slower to my eyes?

I tried to de-interlace using the filter on Vdub (Double frame rate, top field first)
Results are awesome BUT a 25min 10GB RAW AVI file comes out around 100GB after that.

Is that how it should be?

What you want is QTGMC, and Hybrid makes it easy.

What is the end goal here?

Thanks
Archive purpse only on my HDD and watching on VLC or TV now and then.
Last captures were low mpeg2 dvd format.
I want to re-do all again as lossless.

Do I need to de-interlace each file after capturing on Vdub? I don't remember doing that on Ulead studio years ago.
I just captured the mpeg2 file with those settings:
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Frame-based
And I get 50fps in those files on VLC.

I have installed Hybrid.
I watched this thread:

By setting up the bitrate to 7000 and using x264, does it make it non-lossless anymore?

Got it sorted with hybrid after processing the file as UT Video and not X264.
Would that be the best option to keep the file lossless for archive?

Please help me to find a source to my problem.
I've done some more tests.

I'm using Amarec now.
I can see the fps is dropping from 25fps to 21fps (Cap) and 50fps (View) drops to 30-40fps and sometimes even more. that shows me the freezing in the video.
When I *Turn Off* the DNR/TBC of the same VCR! I get almost 25fps all the time (maybe few 24fps) including those parts of the tape.

I've uploaded the log files from Amarec with and without TBC.
I do not see VERY MUCH differences in the capture video quality either when it's ON or OFF.

Maybe the circuit inside the VCR is not working in good order?
