JVC SR-S368E suitable for VHS to digital?

Hi All,

New to the group here, ex tech from years ago. I have a collection of maybe 30 vcrs, mostly JVC and I am becoming increasingly interested in VHS to digital transfer. I understand that this is not just connecting a few cables and can be quite complex but a good place to start would be a good svhs deck. I do have a couple of FS90s and a HR-S5000 but not sure they are suitable. I have an option to purchase a SR-S368E for $100 Aussie. Would this be a better bet?

Regards - Mark

The pana FS90 seems like a good bet ,according to your options. Just make sure it work fine before buying

I do have two nice working Panasonic NV-FS90 but as I understand it, they lack TBC, that's why I'm considering the JVC SR-S368E, which I think may be equipped with TBC?

I don't think this antique got a tbc

Not to mention that those "Professional" decks are designed for SP only, If you have low speed consumer tapes you may want to check the manual first before buying.

Thanks Guys (for saving my money!) I'll keep looking for something more suitable.

I couldn't find anything reasonable in Australia and ended up importing a Philips VR1600 from VCRShop in the Netherlands, I am very happy with it.

It was held up by customs to inspect for drugs (including opening the deck and voiding the warranty), but still arrived fairly quickly.

I have many SVHS, JVC368 is not a good choice and the same to JVC388
