Capture workflow storage solution?

I am trying to get a grasp on what I need for a storage solution.
My capture files are big, 30 to 40 GB an hour. I edit them and that creates another file larger then the original. I want to keep the original capture for when I get better at editing I can redo them.

I am not sure how many hours of footage I have, but somewhere around 200 would be my guess.

I am maxed out on internal drives in my computer right now. to add an internal drive I would have to remove a current drive.

What is the optimum way to add storage?

just get a 10 to 16 TB external drive?

Set up a small raid system?

internal drive, replace the current smallest drive?

Do I go SSD for archiving and saving the finished product?

Not gonna lie, I didn't even know they made 22TB HDDs. That is nuts.

I think 26tb is the current largest.

I got this exact WD 22tb for $330 last year, during the inventory oversupply that was hitting storage makers. Too many drives, stock prices dropped. It's now reversed course, and a shortage is coming again. Stocks at all time highs, drive prices climbing.

In other words, if you want a drive, buy it now. :wink2:

HDD/SSD/chips are a cyclical business. The next downcycle may be a year away, 2025.
