How much better is S-video from a betamax deck vs SL-HF900

Hey guys!
I recently bought a SL-HF900 off of rumors of it having superior image quality and S-video, however it does not have S-video- composite only, how important is it to switch to a machine with S-video like the EDV7000/7500?
Is it a significant improvement in quality?
