Best Codec for VHS Capture?

Hello

I intend to digitalize the VHS video collection of my family. I have the following equipment:

- Panasonic NV-HS1000 SVHS-Videorecorder
- Hauppauge USB-Live-2
- PC with Windows 10 Home 64bit

I use VirtualDub 1.9.11 and VirtualDub 2. I was told I should use VirtualDub 1.9.11 for capturing.

What is the best codec for the losless capture of VHS videos (PAL)? I was told that the Blackmagic SD 8bit 4:2:2 codec is the best. Unfortunately I cannot use this codec either in Vdub 1.9.11 or in Vdub 2. In Vdub 1.9.11 I don't even see that codec and in Vdub 2 I get error messages when I use that codec. Only Blackmagic 8bit MJPEG codec works for me.

Thank you in advance for your help, Fabian
