I need some help with this two, I have both and they are both in same condition and really great VCR's, but I plan to get rid of one. Which one should I keep and which to let go :D

Forgot to mention they are both EU version.

You like booth equally try and post ads of them booth, see which one sells first and keep the other? If you don't want to do that probably sell the 8700 I think that model is more known, easier to sell. Just guessing.

They are both serviced, cleaned and everything that needs to be replace is replaced. Both fully recaps Main's and REG section.

I'll capture some tapes with both and decide with that.

Even if both are serviced/cleaned/recapped/etc, condition still matters.

No amount of work can overcome wear, namely head wear. This is why I grade decks as A+, A-, B+. (And lower grades exist, but I refuse to sell those.)

There is a 0% change that both of your units perform identically in the 2020s. It's just so extremely unlikely as to be impossible now.

Also true. I'll test them both, and see the situation. Those were both my backup vcr's not main, they were not in use that often so head is not worn much. Ofc that they don't perform identically today as they were new, non of the vcr's that are sold does.

Is there any way to see how much head is worn or something ? I remember back in the days that there were some key comb. on remote to see that info.
