ATI 650 USB displays static picture only?
I bought an ATI AIW 650 usb capture card and hooked it up to an old Win7 laptop through a composite cable. Everything works up until I play a VHS tape:
-First, I tested it with my old PS2. Transmits video and audio just fine -Hooked up the VCR, menu shows fine but as soon as I hit play, the video comes through for a split second then turns to static -Hooked up the VCR to a TV with the same composite cables and video plays normally --Same results between using Catalyst Media Center and Virtual Dub. Based on the PS2 and VCR menu appearing, I know it's not an issue with the USB capture device itself. Since I'm able to play video normally using a TV, I know the VCR and video signal coming from it is fine. Any idea what could be causing the issue? VCR: Panasonic PV-9450 |
I believe that card has really bad AGC issues. https://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vid...i-650-usb.html

Turns out using a late VHS and VCR with macrovision detection was the issue. My home video played fine.

Welcome. :)
The 650 a terrible card that should be avoided. It has some of the worst AGC issues ever seen in a capture card. That means the image randomly darkens and brightens. 650 is also not an All In Wonder (AIW). |
