Is Hitachi VL-S100 SVHS VCR w/TBC of any use digitizing SVHS tapes?

This Pro unit only has SP and my tapes are EP.
Would its TBC work for pass thru? Otherwise I don't have a use for it.
Very little about this unit, here are some pics.
NOTE: I made a copy of the Instruction Manual.
