VirtualDub jitter, Enable Audio Playback setting?
RE: "Enable audio playback"
Hello everyone, it's been a while. With our little one (and other problems with the house) I've had very little time to do any capturing lately. As the title suggests, running VirtualDub on XP, when this option is enabled the audio jitters, sometimes full on feedback, like a microphone too close to a speaker. I have some success setting "Link Related Streams" in the Crossbar Thing but it soon "forgets" and the issue returns. However, when I playback my capture in post, the audio is fine! It seems specific to how VDub handles preview audio. I have read the guide and I see this option is best turned off but it would be nice to be able to watch the videos as I am capturing with audio. Ironically, W10 doesn't seem to have this issue but does have others. Curious behaviour I thought... |
Solved: Capture > Timing > DirectShow options > Force audio clock when audio playback is enabled (Tick)

Addendum: I thought I'd add although this did solve the audio playback issue, I did notice that I do get much more stable captures with audio playback disabled (as is the prevailing wisdom).
Sometimes it works fine but why take the gamble with something that could ruin hours of capture. |
