Any advantage of using my XP PCs for capture?

I'm working with EP S-VHS.

I have way over a dozen XP boxes as well as 7 & 10

Is it a quality/performance -v- cost consideration?

Card (ISA, AGP, PCI 1.0, PCIe) -v- USB? ....is USB preferred? or?

Quality between capture devices differ and all require different operating systems. Mostly XP/7.

Best: Intel Core 2 duo or quad with an AGP slot for an agp ATI AIW card (specific cards, specific chipsets)

Almost as good: other ATI AIW models (specific models & chipsets only). Pinnacle 510-usb and 710-usb (specific chipsets only). I think the ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0 is also pretty decent. That's the little gray box.

There are other models but usually they have their quirks. (or worse quirks than the mentioned models.)

This list is not exhaustive but it's what I can recommend from memory.

-Try to use at least 2 cores if you can, you can use 1 core but you'll have a harder time.
-1gb ram minimum.

Good luck!

IMPORTANT NOTE:
There are versions of these cards, both good and bad. (And that's why I sell cards in the marketplace, to remove the unknown factor. I'm the "easy button" for getting a good card. This isn't info found online, no easy tells or markings.)
